Water Resources and Land Use

Water shapes the entire Earth system: land and soil, the climate, human beings, biodiversity, and energy. Hence it is important to view water resources management from an integrative perspective that takes account of influences from local, regional and global dynamics. And with water being scarce, it is a resource that must be used and managed sustainably, particularly in arid countries. To this end, ISOE carries out impact assessments, applies modelling techniques and develops scenarios. We also manage and co-ordinate international projects on integrated water resources management (IWRM).
