Sustainable Mobility Culture

In this project, the scientists developed a concept to implement multi-optional mobility offerings drawing on the full range of transport available.

Research approach

The urban transport concept was designed to encourage a change in perspective regarding different types of transport. At the same time, the aim was to support interaction and communication between road/transport users.

The interdisciplinary project team developed a conceptual framework for Frankfurt am Main based on the bicycle and public transport. It involved the integration of planning, municipal implementation and communication. The starting point was a social ecological definition of mobility. The urban studies in Bozen, Freiburg, Salzburg and Zürich were used to illustrate what can be learned from these cities with regard to changing mobility culture.
