What does critical science mean and how do its representatives have to communicate in order to initiate social change processes in the direction of sustainable development? These questions will be addressed on the first Darmstadt Days of Transformation on the 16th and 17th of January 2019, to which ISOE – Institute for Social-Ecological Research and the Schader Foundation are inviting participants interested in the topic.
In his keynote speech on January 16, Dr. Thomas Jahn, scientific director of ISOE, will talk about the topic of “Critical Transdisciplinarity and the Question of Transformation”. He will then discuss “Critical science today and tomorrow” together with Prof. Dr. Patrizia Nanz, Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies (IASS) (requested), Prof. Dr. Uwe Schneidewind, Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment, Energy and Prof. em. Dr. Jürgen Mittelstraß, Konstanz Science Forum.
What and in particular how science must communicate so that its results can be heard by politics and society and translated into concrete actions is what we are working on together with the participants on the second day of the event under the title “Wissenskommunikation für eine nachhaltige Entwicklung (Knowledge communication for sustainable development)”. Impulses, discussion workshops and lunch talks on approaches and methods of knowledge communication are planned for 17 January 2019.
