Academic Cooperation and Qualification of Young Scientists

For more than ten years the ISOE has been active in academic teaching. The aim is to provide students with theoretical concepts and methods as well as knowledge on empirical fields of application within social-ecological research and to further develop social ecology as a transdisciplinary area of science. This is done in close cooperation with the Goethe University of Frankfurt and the Leuphana University of Lüneburg.

Together with the Faculty of Social Science at the Goethe-University, we are responsible for the main subject “Social Ecology” within the Master’s Program in Environmental Sciences. Courses at the Leuphana University of Lüneburg and numerous workshops for graduate students focus on current research and publications and broaden their dissemination.

We also offer to supervise theses on ISOE projects and topics. Please contact Diana Hummel, the coordinator for Academic Cooperation and Qualification of Young Scientists.

Within the bachelor and master’s degree programs at the Leuphana University Lüneburg, concepts and methods of transdisciplinary research developed at ISOE are applied in “exploratory learning” sessions during students’ sustainability research projects. In addition, cross-disciplinary and trans-disciplinary curriculum development as well as planning and implementing research and PhD projects are encouraged at the Faculty of Sustainability.
