Leonie Burke has been a research assistant at ISOE since July 2026. She studied Environmental and Sustainability Studies (B.Sc.) at Leuphana University Lüneburg and at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú in Lima. She earned her master’s degree in Geography of Global Change (M.Sc.) from the University of Freiburg. 

During her master’s program, she worked as a student assistant at the Öko-Institut in the field of transdisciplinary sustainability research. Most recently, she completed the Postgraduate Program for Sustainability Cooperation at the Institute of Development and Sustainability (IDOS) in Bonn, during which she conducted research in Indonesia on collective action for coastal conservation in the context of shrinking civic space.
