Application platform for an automated forecasting of the daily water demand in Hamburg
To optimize water management, the project is developing a forecasting platform for Hamburg's daily water demand.
Our advice is interdisciplinary since it is no longer sufficient to draw on the knowledge of single disciplines; it is practice-oriented as we take the perspective of our clients without sacrificing the critical and analytical perspective of research. With this dual perspective, we increase the likelihood of solutions to be accepted and successfully implemented in practice.
Together with our clients, we develop innovative strategies and future-proof concepts—ranging from securing drinking water supply in municipalities to blue-green infrastructures. Our work covers the fields of water, biodiversity, infrastructure, mobility, climate adaptation, and energy sufficiency. We apply a broad spectrum of methods in our research and implementation.
We provide our clients with comprehensive support in planning and shaping social-ecological transformation processes. For example, we develop climate adaptation strategies for municipalities or concepts for sustainable neighborhood development. We offer customized target group consulting and create practical recommendations for action, action plans, and strategies for successful communication and effective knowledge transfer. We also support you in moderating and mediating conflicts and promote the involvement of relevant stakeholders. Based on participatory approaches, we assist you in product development. Another focus of our consulting services is the redesign of research processes towards inter- and transdisciplinary working methods. We also support our clients in cases of institutional transformation. Here, we facilitate the implementation of new internal role and task allocations and help to innovatively shape work and planning processes.
We offer well-founded analyses based on current research findings. Those analyses comprise for instance the examination of problem situations with the help of literature and document studies, media and conflict analyses, risk and vulnerability assessments, actor and stakeholder analyses, policy field analyses as well as qualitative and quantitative empirical surveys with the aim to determine motivational, societal and structural influencing factors, as well as the scope of acceptance and impact. We also develop research-based and customized concepts for resource and risk management as well as for the transformation of infrastructures in areas such as transport, water and energy. Thus, we integrate necessary technical and social innovations. Finally, our consulting services include the strategic development of transfer offers. As part of this knowledge transfer, we support the development of learning spaces that specifically address the knowledge needs of the target groups and activate them through suitable formats.
We advise and support our clients in developing and implementing institution-specific transfer strategies. This includes creating well-founded target group analyses based on scientific stakeholder analyses, designing and implementing innovative transfer formats, and evaluating transfer measures.
We support research projects and project management by providing individual coaching with the aim to develop and expand transdisciplinary competencies. This includes advice on specific research topics and their appropriate transdisciplinary formats as well as advice on project management and associated challenges.
One focus of our consulting services is on formative (accompanying) and summative (assessing) evaluation formats. Here we accompany research projects and processes with the aim to improve the conditions for obtaining high-quality research results. This includes initiating learning processes and improving cooperation, organization and coordination, knowledge integration and further steps in the research process. This is the key prerequisite for quality assurance and good management of research projects and processes. Here we offer various formats ranging from moderated project meetings to surveys using individual interviews or questionnaires.
For our clients from municipalities, administration, businesses, politics, and civil society, we develop viable practical solutions in the fields of water, climate, energy, biodiversity, and mobility.
