Method

Integrated Assessment

All relevant aspects are fully taken into account, including ecological, social, economic, technical and political-institutional aspects. In practice, methods enabling the analysis of multi-criteria decisions (MCDA) are often used. They enable a systematic consideration of a wide range of monetary and non-monetary as well as quantitative and qualitative evaluation criteria. These methods promote an inter- and transdisciplinary approach by integrating different types of knowledge and thus supporting a well-founded decision-making process. MCDA is structured in a transparent and comprehensible way and thereby strengthening the dialogue between actors and promoting participatory decision-making, which is of central significance for social justice and the legitimacy of socio-ecological transformations.
