Dr. Nicola Schuldt-Baumgart

Dr. Nicola Schuldt-Baumgart has been head of “Knowledge Communication and Public Relations” at ISOE since 2012. She studied economics, German language and literature as well as international economic relations at Philipps-University of Marburg/Germany and Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich/Germany. After obtaining her doctorate in economics at the University of Marburg, she worked in corporate and brand communication, in political consulting, and as a freelance business journalist for the Neue Zürcher Zeitung the Financial Times Deutschland, and the Frankfurter Rundschau amongst others. Her work focuses on the areas of knowledge and sustainability communication and refers to the interfaces between science, society, and politics. Here, she is responsible for the conception and realisation of innovative formats of science communication and knowledge transfer.

    Forest conversion to mixed forest is intended to ensure the sustainability of forests threatened by climate change. Conflicts over their use are dealt with and negotiated in the “Forest of the Future” project through dialog formats such as round tables.

    The three-year research project aims to investigate what kind of knowledge needs and barriers exist among municipal decision-makers and how the latter can then be addressed by means of better knowledge transfer. The intention is to support climate adaptation in Hessian municipalities.

    Scientific coordination of the funding initiative „An environmentally and socially compatible transformation of the German energy system”

    Since 2013 a total of 33 collaborative research projects are dealing with various aspects of an “Environmentally and socially compatible transformation of the German energy system”. The Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) has included this initiative into the funding priority Social-Ecological Research (SÖF) and has assigned the Öko-Institut together with the ISOE with the coordination of the funding initiative.
